The Emmaus Road

Jesus turns two disciple's world upside down when he appears to them on Easter Sunday. They were understandably confused bye the weekends events, having thought that the Messiah was now dead. Then Jesus shows up in their midst and unveils the work that God had been doing throughout Israel's history to bring them precisely to this moment and their eyes are opened. Luke masterfully tells this story using a literary device to highlight key themes in the passage and if we're paying attention, it should leave us in wonder and awe at the ways God works in our lives.
