Easter Sunday - Joyfully Afraid

We expect God to make us joyful, but we rarely expect God to make us afraid. The best moments in life are a blend of these two dueling emotions: alligator sightings, rollercoasters, and boogie boarding to name a few. The Bible contains a rich tradition of spiritual giants who "feared" God. This picture shouldn't surprise us, then, when the women arrive at the empty tomb and are filled with fear when they see Jesus. The resurrection of Jesus makes us joyfully afraid.
